Smiles!

Holly is now 1 month 1 week and 1 day old! Seems crazy how fast that’s gone by! In the last week or so she has started smiling but i caught a smile on camera this morning!
She is coming along really well, she’s started making little cooing sounds and still loves her milk! She did her first smile on the 4th of December after i told her she looks like her daddy lol!
Here is her smiley picture. 2009-12-11-10-21-15

My babies :-)

Well Holly is 16 days old so i thought i’d write about how we are getting on!

Luke has taken to his sister really well, in fact better then i thought he would! I was so worried when i was pregnant about how he would feel about having a new baby around and also how i would feel about having another baby! But i didn’t need to worry at all, I fell in love with her as soon as i saw her, Luke…. well he wasn’t that sure of her at first but he seems to love her to bits now! He seems really proud of her as well, when i took her to his toddler group this week the ladies that run it asked Luke if Holly was his new sister and he came and stood next to her and held on to the handle of her car seat with me looking very proud! He gets a great big smile on his face when you sit her next to him and he loves to help with feeding and changing, if she cries he’ll go rushing over and say aww and try to put her blanket on her or pop her dummy in, its very cute!

So far being a mummy of two hasn’t been as hard as i thought it would be, I’m glad i have my sling to pop Holly in as it lets me get on with things and play with Luke if she’s a bit fussy and wants to be held, I think the hardest thing so far has been getting them both out the house! I think that’s mostly because Holly starts to cry as soon as you put her coat on lol! But she’s always fine once in the car, also i have to make sure to get the changing bag ready and things for Luke a while before we go or i’m rushing around the place and running late for things!

Holly sleeps quite well which is great, only wakes up at 1am then around 5am then goes right back off after her feed so not bad at all, also when she cries she doesn’t wake Luke so that’s great for us as well!

So that’s us settling in to a family of 4! I love my babies :-) 2009-11-19-11-04-221

2 weeks old!

Our beautiful girl is now 2 weeks old! It’s weird how fast it goes once they are here! Seems like the last few weeks of being pregnant and wanting them to be here drag by but then time seems to go so fast once they are here!

Holly is growing and changing everyday, she is now taking 3 oz of milk pretty much every time, in fact every time she’s awake she seems to want milk lol!

She had her first trip to Grandma’s yesterday and today i took her to Luke’s toddler group and everyone said how lovely she is :-)

1 week old!

Holly is a week old today! She’s been doing really well, she takes around 2-3oz of milk and when we saw the midwife today she has only lost 1oz off her birth weight!
Her cord came off yesterday which we were quite surprised about as Luke’s didn’t fall off till he was 9 days old but the midwife says its normal for it to come away with in the week so that’s good, it was also her due date yesterday so quite funny that her cord came away on that day!
She is also sleeping pretty well at night, only wakes once or twice for milk and then will normally go right back off to sleep in her bed after. So she is doing really well :-)

My birth story

Well it all started the 31st of October, we went to the hospital the Saturday morning thinking maybe my waters were leaking, was having a couple of odd pains here and there but by the time we got there i had nothing! + when they looked everything was closed up so off we went home again. By the time we got in to bed Saturday night i was having some quite bad pains but not coming close enough so tried to get some sleep, only had a few hours between pains, then spent all day Sunday having pains as well! By Sunday night they were getting quite strong pains but still only coming every 10 – 15 minutes and no waters yet so no point going anywhere so i tried to sleep again and only slept around 3 hours between the pains, by the time i got up Monday morning i was ready to give up, i rang the delivery suite only to be told what i knew, only come up once the pains were coming closer or my waters went. I rang my mum up in tears saying i didn’t know how much more i could take of the strong pains but no baby coming! She told me to try and get in the bath and chill out for a while so i did, the bath helped the pains but once i was out they were really bad again! I was getting beside myself thinking i was having pains and not much was happening plus it wasn’t very easy for Mike seeing me in pain and having to watch Luke!
Monday evening my sister brought me round a hot water bottle to put on my back to help with the pains which did help but i was still feeling pretty upset as the pains were only coming anywhere from 5 – 15 minutes! So i still felt like i was getting no where!
My sister helped bath Luke and put him to bed then left, then Mike and i sat and watched tv for a bit and i had some cereal as i started to feel really hungry! Finished my cereal and stood up and a small bit of what i hoped were my waters started leaking out but i still wasn’t to sure if it was my waters so got upset again! So we just went to bed to see what happened and said we would go up the hospital to check it in the morning. Got in to bed Mike went to sleep and i sat and watched friends having pains still, i looked at my phone and it was 1am and i was thinking only a few more hours and i can go to the hospital and they will hopefully tell me something is happening! The next thing i know its 2am and i feel like i really need to go to the toilet when i was having a contraction so i jumped up and rushed to the loo and as i did my waters started flooding out! So i went and woke Mike and said i need to go to the hospital now i need something for the pain i can’t do it much longer on my own!! So i rang my mum and she was at ours by half 2. We got to the hospital around 3ish, the student midwife started filling in my notes and listening to baby all the while i’m still having contractions, we wait for the other midwife to come do my internal by the time she comes it was around 3:30, they said i was 5 – 6 cm dilated which was good but as i was 7cm by the time i got to the hospital with Luke and things took a while to move along i thought we were in for a long wait!
The midwife then tells me i can get on the gas & air and asked me if i’d like a bath so i said yes thinking i might as well if i’m going to be here a while!
While they were off running my bath the contractions started coming every 3 minutes and were very strong! I was puffing away on the gas & air while Mike tried to cheer me up.
By 4am we were still waiting for the bath and I was feeling awful but still puffing away on the gas & air, Mike told me he had a dream that the baby would be here at 4:20 i looked at the clock and said i doubt she will be here that soon Mike we have ages to go yet! The next thing i know we are in the bath room and I’m feeling that heavy feeling you get once the baby has come right down! And all i want to do is sit on the floor! I started crying and told Mike there was no way i was getting in the bath because i would just be getting right back out again! Then i had a really bad contraction and screamed my way though the pain, so the next thing the midwife comes in and asks if everything is ok, Mike says i think she is finding it hard to handle the pain, so i start crying and saying iv only had 3 hours sleep last night and i have M.E please i need something else!! So she asks if i want pethadine and i say yes!!!!
Get up and go back to the bed, fall in to it and had my head hanging off the end so Mike was there holding on to my head lol! I was sucking at the gas & air and i started pushing! I was thinking in my head I must be pushing nothing she can’t be coming yet iv only had one internal! Mike can see i’m in pain and says don’t worry babe the pethidine is coming, so i take the gas & air out my mouth and say I’m pushing hit the midwife button!! As he hit it the midwifes come in with the pethidine and ask to look at me and she is coming!!! They told Mike she would be here with in 5 minutes by the looks of it! At this point i was just sucking and sucking at the gas & air trying to get though it, Mike starts telling me she’s got loads of hair and the midwife’s are all saying she had lots of dark hair, then the next thing i knew she was on my chest and crying!!! She was born at 4:43am, I couldn’t believe it!! I just lay there looking at her thinking how did that happen so fast!! I turned to Mike and told him he was right and that she was so worth every little pain!
Only ended up with a small tear along where i was cut with Luke and only needed a few stitches. The thing i’m finding hurts the most is the after pains! As soon as she was born my tummy was hurting so much!
I asked the midwife if we had to stay in or could we take her home and they said they were happy for me to go home as baby was fine and i was fine, so they brought us in some toast and tea but i couldn’t eat much i just lay there feeling sick and looking up at the clock thinking how could she have been born already!
We got her home at half 7ish and Luke was still in bed so he hadn’t even had a chance to miss us which was great! He wasn’t that bothered by her to start with but he has gone over and looked at her a few times and tried to hold her hand and kiss her, only thing is i have to keep saying be gentle with her because he doesn’t understand and keeps trying to pat her lol!
She has been lovely so far, very windy the first night so cried but other then that she is amazing. I just keep thinking how lucky i am to have my gorgeous little family.
And Mike was just amazing while i was labour and really kept me going, i don’t know what i would have done without him!
I love my family so so very much xx2009-11-03-07-02-26

10 days to go!

Well we are down to 10 days till baby’s due date! We are hoping she will come before then though! We can’t wait to meet her! I’m feeling very uncomfy now + tired all the time so its not very easy with Luke to run around after as well but he is being pretty good and bring toys over so i can play with him while sitting down! He was very cute yesterday, Mike told him to give baby sister a kiss and he came over and kissed my bump! How cute is that!

We are also only a week away from how far gone i was when Luke was born so we’ll have to see if she comes before or keeps us waiting a little longer then her big brother did!

38 weeks!

We are now 38 weeks pregnant! I can hardly believe how fast this pregnancy has gone by, it really seems mad to think in the space of a few days (hopefully not weeks ;-) ) we will have our little girlie here!
Not to much to say for this week, we have a midwife appointment next week at 39+1 so we shall see if we make it to the midwife or if baby is here!

37 weeks

We are now 37 weeks! So we are now classed as full term, so baby could come any time now really although she could hang on and be in there another 5 weeks! Hopefully she won’t keep us waiting that long though!
We saw the midwife today and everything is fine with baby, my iron levels are low but hopefully once i start taking some iron tablets i’ll be feeling fine again :-)
